Entry Requirements

An individual undertaking this course will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

1. As a registered training organisation (RTO), delivering nationally recognised training, we must verify a student's identity before undertaking the assessment. To meet this requirement, you will be required to show your photo identification to the camera and state your full name, as listed on your identification document.

2. Students are required to complete a self evaluation against the following core skills as part of the enrolment process. This will allow your trainer to understand any additional support that may be required during the course delivery and assessment.

• Learning: Can learn from experience and stay calm when talking to people who are upset, confused, or in need of support.
• Reading: Can read messages or information that help me understand someone’s health needs or emotional state.
• Writing: Can write clear notes about a person's condition or situation.
• Oral communication: Can speak clearly, listen carefully, and adjust how I communicate depending on the situation and who I’m talking to.
• Numeracy: Can use basic numbers if needed, like telling time, recording steps, or tracking changes in someone’s condition.

• Digital Literacy: Able to use a mobile phone or basic device to read messages, follow online instructions, complete online forms or access learning resources
  
  

3. Students must have access to a device with camera and audio recording capabilities, such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a webcam. This device will be necessary for creating short videos as part of the assessment, in which students verbally explain the required assessment outcomes.

* This course includes material about alcohol, drugs, death and violence which some users may find distressing. If you feel uncomfortable at any time, you are welcome to pause the course and return to it when you feel ready. Support links are provided within the content.

Course Duration

The online learning and assessment is expected to take approximately 7-8 hours to complete. These timeframes are estimates. Individuals with prior experience in similar training may complete the course in less time, while those new to the subject may need more time to complete all the learning content and assessment questions.

This course is delivered fully online and will be self-paced. Students are expected to complete this course within six (6) months after enrolment.

Assessment Activities

Practical assessment: 

• Students are required to upload four (4) videos of themselves briefly explaining how they would respond to the scenarios provided.

Documentation:

• Complete one (1) Incident Report form

Theory assessment:

• A written assessment consisting of case studies and multiple-choice questions

Please note:  You will be required to make four (4) videos of yourself, verbally explaining the required assessment outcome. If you do not wish to complete video assessment questions, please consider an alternative mode of delivery (E.g. Online with face-to-face assessment).
